Infrared thermography is equipment or method, which detects infrared energy emitted from object, converts it to temperature, and displays image of temperature distribution. To be accurate, the equipment and the method should be called differently, the equipment to be called as infrared thermograph and the method to be called as infrared thermography. Recently, however, more and more public literatures show tendency not to pay attention to such appellative.

Power quality is often defined as the electrical network's or the grid's ability to supply a clean and stable power supply. In other words, power quality ideally creates a perfect power supply that is always available, has a pure noise-free sinusoidal wave shape, and is always within voltage and frequency tolerances. However, with increasing and varying energy demands from various industrial processes, many loads regularly impose disturbances on the grid, making deviations from these ideal conditions are frequent.

A Partial Discharge is an electrical discharge or spark that bridges a small portion of the insulation between two conducting electrodes. Partial Discharge activity can occur at any point in the insulation system, where the electric field strength exceeds the breakdown strength of that portion of the insulating material. When operating an equipment or a power system at the high voltage, problems associated with partial discharge (PD) can be tracked down to electromagnetic emission, acoustic emission or chemical reactions such as the formation of ozone and nitrous oxide gases. The high voltage equipment and high voltage installation owners have come to terms with the need for conditions monitoring the process of PD in the equipments such as power transformers, gas insulated substations (GIS), and cable installations.

Vibration Analysis (VA), applied in an industrial or maintenance environment aims to reduce maintenance costs and equipment downtime by detecting equipment faults. VA is a key component of a Condition Monitoring (CM) program, and is often referred to as Predictive Maintenance (PdM). Most commonly VA is used to detect faults in rotating equipment (Fans, Motors, Pumps, and Gearboxes etc.) such as Unbalance, Misalignment, rolling element bearing faults and resonance conditions.

Partial Discharges in the insulation are the main cause of ageing in high voltage paper insulated cables. The discharges are responsible for much of the deterioration seen in the insulation wall, such as pinholing and electrical treeing, and eventually lead to the breakdown of insulation.

Demand of energy is growing day by day and along with it cost of energy rising abruptly, so now it is necessary that the health of large motors which consumes maximum power should be taken care off. Tests are required to check the condition of the induction motor and to get the basic idea of malfunctioning of the motor. Now a day lots of techniques and tests are available which gives the complete health card of the induction motors. By monitoring some parameters like voltage, current, temperature, and vibration problem could be diagnosed and by correcting these faults the overall efficiency of the machine can be improved. This will reduce the energy consumption and operational costs.
